Bus rental in Konstanz
Renting a bus to Konstanz is how many Lake Constance trips begin. The largest city on the lake has around 86,000 residents and sits right on the Swiss border. BELAHMER REISEN works as a bus company for trips to Konstanz, usually as multi-day tours for clubs, senior groups, school classes and companies. From Katzweiler near Kaiserslautern it is about 330 kilometres, roughly three and a half to four hours via the A6, A81 and the Hegau motorway. The old town survived the Second World War largely intact because it lies so close to the Swiss border. Narrow lanes, painted facades and the Minster of Our Lady shape the scene. At the harbour stands the Council Building, where the Council of Constance met from 1414 to 1418, the only papal election ever held north of the Alps. In front, the Imperia, a nine-metre statue, slowly turns and recalls that era with a wink. Mainau Island is only about 15 minutes from the centre. The flower island with its palace, butterfly house and gardens draws coach groups from spring to autumn. Tulips bloom in April and May, roses and dahlias in summer. The coach parks in the large car park at the island entrance. Reichenau Island is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Three Romanesque churches from the Carolingian-era monastery stand among vegetable fields. A causeway makes the island accessible by coach. From Konstanz the car ferry crosses to Meersburg on the northern shore. The coach can come on board, and the crossing takes about 20 minutes, so both shores fit into one day. Schaffhausen and the Rhine Falls are just under an hour away in Switzerland. In August the Seenachtfest lake festival ends with large fireworks over the water. The city is packed, so book early. On Lake Constance tours with overnight stays, the coach stays with your group and the driver stays too. We plan stages, ferries and border crossings so everything runs smoothly. A tried and tested two-day programme: on day one the old town, harbour and Council Building, with dinner on the lakeside promenade. On day two Mainau Island in the morning, then the ferry to Meersburg at midday for the castle and old town, followed by the drive home. With three days, add Reichenau and the Rhine Falls. The Swiss border runs right through the city. Kreuzlingen on the Swiss side is within walking distance, and many groups pop over. For coach trips into Switzerland we plan tolls and formalities in advance. For a quote, the date, programme and number of passengers are enough. The fixed price includes tolls, fuel, the driver and, if you wish, ferry costs.
